3 star hotel with good rooms but no a/c.Stayed one night here in Jan 25 before boarding the train to christchurch.Bfast basic and could be improved with better choice and tongs.Scrambled egg was too watery&milky but to have fried eggs wanted xtra charge.It seemed the only decent hotel in greymouth which appeared a ghost town around 6pm when we arrived there and it was same the following day

Room good for our needs and a very welcoming check-in. Restaurant dining was a disappointment and needs some improvement. Staff had not checked we had a booking and squeezed us in amongst other tables, when other tables were clear, but had not been set. The waiter taking my order stood at my back, so all I heard was his voice. Our meals took a long time to come out and obviously had been sitting because they were cool. It was also off putting to witness a staff member being spoken to by a supervisor in a condescending manner.

This was a good hotel that met our needs. Bed was comfy, room and bath were clean. It’s in an older building but you can see the updating that has been done, and done well. The staff were super friendly and professional. The only downsides to our stay was the absence of air conditioning in the room. A floor fan was provided, and after the sun set it was a comfortable temperature. We ended up leaving our balcony door open all night with the fan positioned to blow the air into the room. Also, our shower had a drain issue which left standing water in the shower, so much so I cut my shower short so the water wouldn’t spill over the edge into the bathroom. All in all, a decent stay. Could have been worse, could have been better.
