Based on the description on Expedia, I booked two nights at this property. I drove into the property, and it immediately looked "sketchy." But, I got the room key and went to the room. It was on the ground floor (#157) in a separate wing of the property. Above the door into the wing was a set of stairs with yellow "caution" tape all around it. There was litter strewn all around the wing, so there was nothing inviting at all. I went through the door into the wing to go to my room, which was at the end of a dark hallway. I went into the room and it, too, was dark and uninviting. It was clean, but it smelled dank and musty. The carpet was not clean, and the room only had two low-wattage lights in it. I opened the curtains to let more light in and was greeted by a concrete wall with garbage between the room's window and the wall.
I returned to the office and let them know we would not be staying. I could not imagine anything that could be done to rectify the situation--not only was the room unacceptable, but so was the entire property.
Of course, it was too late to get a refund because the property requires cancellation 72 in advance of arrival. But, we couldn't have known that the property was so bad until we actually arrived. Catch 22 -- we were out $171 for the two nights, and Expedia was unable to help because refund policies of the properties are sacrosanct.
