Nice to have balcony. Staff did good job with breakfast and cleaning, reception at check in. Issue was a broken elevator which made for a challenge with luggage and those with health challenges. Some initial issues with TV in Spanish but staff worked to resolve.

Absolutely loved this charming and quaint adobe style hotel on Pacific street. It feeks like you're staying in an apartment with its fireplace and balcony features. The bathroom had a stand-up shower and a separate tub to relax in. It is within walking distance of Old Fisherman's Wharf and other eateries as well. The staff is super helpful and accommodating. Look forward to staying here again whenever I'm in Monterey!

Home away from home. It does need a bit of TLC, cracked tiles, we had ants (but they are everywhere), broken lampshade, spa was out of order on a half marathon weekend - just little things - but nothing so bad to ruin our stay. Everything is walking distance. This was our first time staying here - even though we go to Monterey quite a bit. It will be our go-to hotel from now on when we do not take our RV, especially since we can bring our fur babies!

This hotel was really cute! The only issue we had was that there was a barking dog that was really loud, we called the front desk because we could not sleep and they address it and it stopped but then early in the morning it started again. Otherwise, the hotel and staff were great!

I had issues with the TV & fireplace, needed maint. guy to come by & help me. The fridge barely worked. The phone was broken. I had to follow-up (@11:20) when no one showed up @11am like I was told. Then the front desk called my cell phone @11:45 to tell me it had to be fixed by an "OUTSIDE company", ETA was "sometime today". Because I would rather be present when "whomever" came into my room & didn't want to wait around & waste a whole day, I told them to cancel it & they could get it fixed after I checked out. There were (2) elevators, the one closest to my room was not working properly on Day 3 & 4. (Luckily I only stayed (4) days) The buttons to summons the elevator AND the elevator itself was not working correctly. I could have potentially gotten stuck in the elevator, but I made the maint. guy ride up with me, because I didn't trust it. Sure enough, it got to my floor & the door did NOT open! He jiggled & pushed on the door to make it open. Seems to me that it's not uncommon for the elevator to act up since he knew "the tricks" to bypass the issueS. Also, there was no bathrobe in my room as advertised. (I didn't bother to ask about it) Besides all the issues, the room was nice & the breakfast was good (except the fruit choices were not as pictured), & best of all, the location was great. Unsure if I would stay there again tho. It was "doable" since it was only (4) days & I was solo. (& I'm very easy-going!!)

The breakfast was good but there was a hair in our breakfast burrito. However this happens sometimes. The food was good tasted fresh. The breakfast space was very clean and kept up and filled consistently. Friendly staff. The room had a lot of various different hairs on the toilet on the floor on the bed. The bathroom was not very clean on the floor or on the glass table in the bathroom. The toilet had hairs on it and the bathroom overall smelled like a camping bathroom. All the staff was very nice. The outside areas did not look like they were being kept up and cleaned

This hotel was the low point of an otherwise wonderful trip to Monterey. From arrival, we were met with disorganized and indifferent service — no warmth, no professionalism, and no real help with our luggage despite being only 30 minutes early. The room was a major disappointment. The shower barely functioned, with weak pressure and inches of standing water. Rust and stains surrounded the toilet bolts, a bathroom handrail was detached from the wall, an old phone jack stuck out awkwardly, and an ancient heater barely operated. The thermostat didn’t work at all, leaving the room hot and stuffy with no way to cool down. The vanity was outside the bathroom by the front door, offering zero privacy and limited storage (4 hangers and a couple small drawers for a 4-night stay). The patio was dirty, with bird droppings on the table and a direct view of trash bins. Fireplace instructions required long matches, but only damp matchbooks were provided — causing an alarming gas flare when lit. No USB outlets, outdated fixtures, and overall lack of maintenance made it feel like nothing has been updated in 20+ years. We spent our days exploring the beauty of Monterey and returned each night only to be reminded of how out-of-date and uncared-for this hotel has become. For the high price and online reputation, we expected a romantic and comfortable stay — not a constant reminder of deferred maintenance. Would not return until a full renovation and staff retraining occur.
