Not a great experience for the price. Paid extra for early check in, but room not finished (no towels, no toilet paper and tissue box empty) room very run down and small (401) On the evening we found the iron was not working and the TV would not switch on. One positive was it's in a great location.

Room not clean. Marks / stains on duvet , bed base marked and stained/every time you sat on the bed it made a cracking sound as though it was going to break. Black marks on tiles in bathroom. Ended up not staying just went back home.

Staff were friendly, welcoming and informative. The room was well equipped with free tea/coffee, fridge, fan and hairdryer and bed was clean and comfy. Hotel itself could do with a bit of an upgrade but it was still a great place to stay.

We stayed in this exact room February 2024. On that trip the curtains and tops pf the walls/picture rails were thick with dust and they are still exactly the same. There are cracked bathroom tiles, damaged bath panels and taps that need tightening. This was the same in February 2024. Size of the room is decent but could do with shelves or drawers for clothing. Housekeeping staff were pleasant and kept us topped up. I appreciate its an old room but it does feel grotty. We only stay for the use of the pool.

A really great hotel to stay at to explore Newcastle City - right at the train & Metro station and with many pubs and restaurants within walking distance - also walk to Grey's Monument, Grainger Market, Newcastle cathedral & the Castle
