The InterContinental is well located in the heart of Wellington city, so makes for easy walking around. The staff were all pleasant and helpful, making our stay very enjoyable.

The swimming pool, spa pool and sauna, although tired and dated, were a great feature of this hotel. The gym had excellent modern equipment. However, guest rooms are very old and worn (our bathroom sink had a large crack through it!). The biggest downfall of our stay was the major building work going on in the hotel - we didn’t know about this prior to arrival but there was a jackhammer/large drill going all day a few floors above us (thank goodness we were out and about most of the day because we couldn’t sit in our room for long, the noise was really unbearable). Overall an expensive hotel considering the dated facilities (definitely only a 3 star hotel at most) and construction noise - $225 per night for two adults and a child is too much to pay.
