Birdsong Hideaway provided a tranquil and welcoming retreat for me while in Brown's Bay for a 3-day workshop. The apartment sleeps four, is well-presented and immaculately clean. I slept in one of the single beds - very comfortable, lovely sheets and pillows and high-quality towels. I loved waking to bird-song: the two nights of deep and very refreshing sleep across my two-night stay was way more than I had ever hoped for.
The setting is lovely - the apartment has its own section of an upstair's balcony looking out to trees and sunset. The hosts are very kind and welcoming. Guests are invited to use other outdoor spaces as well as the small table with 2 chairs and 2-seater outside lounge seater immediately adjacent to the apartment. There is ample parking and easy access to the Bay area and shops etc.
While the bathroom and bedrooms are lovely and also spacious, the Hideaway is not ideal for self-catering. There is very limited bench space and the tiny fridge and kitchen utensils/plates also limited and not easy to access. I was glad I had bought a fruit knife. As night fell there were lots of mosquitoes outside on the balcony too - so bring some insect repellent. In fact, it would be helpful if hosts provided this, as the outside space is very pleasant for eating a simple meal.
My hosts were very gracious and generous. They allow full privacy for their guests but are readily available if guests need to call on them for anything.
