Hotel was great but the concept of Denarau Island isn't. 4 or 5 hotels together to create a tourist enclave. The locals shops which service all the hotels are a rip off. $120 AUD for a bottle of Spirits as an example. Did love our stay though.

Shangri-La's Fijian Resort & Spa - Yanuca Island Hotels

    Shangri-La's Fijian Resort & Spa

Yanuca Island, Coral Coast, Yanuca Island - Map
    "Great hotel for families"
The hotel is about 30 years old, but has a very good selection of activities to do on resort, 3 pools, tennis court, putt putt, water sports, restaurants (although the major one was getting renovated during our stay) and "dinner nights" each night cycling through Fijian, Polynesian, fire twirling, hot coal walking events. What makes it, is the resort staff. The Fijians are so lovely, and you can't walk around without swapping a dozen 'bula' with the staff. The main pool has 'Marcel' bw 11-12am, who does aqua aerobics and then 'water basketball' with guys v girls which is hilarious fun. Not to be missed. My only suggestion would be to work out the things that you really want to do, and approach their help desk about how to go about it. They have people who approach you (Mr Mun) and try to sign you up to stuff, which are very expensive, and there are a lot better value activities ex-hotel. We went on a snorkeling trip (Captain cook cruises) and arranged a specific 'horse riding' on the beach event late in the day (to avoid the heat) which were brilliant, which we arranged, rather than doing the spruiked stuff.
