The internet was pathetic. Dial up would have been better? Cracked tiles outside shower with nice sharp edge to potentially cut your foot No where to plug a laptop in. Unplug fridge is TV or use it on the bed. Would not recommend it as not very good value for money

I was really disappointed with my stay. The bed had clearly been made with dirty sheets, and the single towel provided was so thin it was almost threadbare. Several areas of the room were dusty, and there were signs of mould as well. Overall, the room felt poorly maintained and far below expectations

Room requires a lot of maintenance. Toilet broken, a room door with a hole, curtains falling off and a kitchen cupboard door missing. Reception staff were friendly to me.

The room we were given was so hot (like a sauna). No air conditioning. We went to open the sliding door (which had trouble sliding) and a window by the door was half open and broken. The room did not appear to be very clean. Old dirty carpeting. The bathroom needs serious updating. Only one bath towel in the room. No facecloths. No hand towel. The hallways in the building were so dirty. We brought all this to the desk staff's attention, and they gave us a room at the neighboring hotel The Gateway for an extra charge. That room was a huge improvement and had air conditioning, and the building was cleaner. We appreciated being moved. The VR Auckland Airport Hotel needs air conditioned rooms and a serious upgrade and deep clean.

Pictures were nothing like the property. We went in to find dirty floors and tiles, broken hanging from the wall towel rail, grubby walls, broken uneven tiles, place smelt like it hadnt been opened in quite some time. Checked in then left after 30mins after we booked elsewhere, with zero refund. Couldnt bring ourselves to stay. Photos dont even show how bad it was

This place shouldn’t be advertised on Expedia. It was abysmal. From the photos I thought I was booking an affordable hotel. Instead it’s more like a halfway house with mystery stains everywhere, curtains hanging off railings, cigarette burns in the furniture, zero privacy. We ended up having to find other accomodation at 2am in the morning after two long haul flighst. Turns out VR Auckland Airport is actually Aero Auckland Airport Hotel with 2.2 stars on Google and numerous reviews complaining about the mould and smell. 2.2 stars is generous.

I booked the room to get a few hours of sleep between flights. I chose this property because it had a free shuttle to and from the airport, and it suited my backpackers budget . The shuttle was great. Check-in was easy and pleasant. The property seemed to be undergoing renovations (there was a sign posted when I got inside the wing where my room was). It was definitely run-down and quite unclean. The bathroom especially, which is always unpleasant. The bed itself was clean and comfortable . It was kind of noisy with people talking until quite late, and based on the surrounding area I was not 100% confident about safety and security (there was only a button lock on the doorknob, no deadbolt or security chain) and I was on the ground floor so I didn’t feel safe keeping the window open while I slept. There was a very strong chemical smell in the room (cleaning chemicals I would guess) and so between all that and no fresh air, I did not manage to get any sleep before having to get on the airport shuttle at 4am. They did have very nice quality tea available in the room. I would not stay at this property again. Hopefully it will be better when the renovations are complete.

The airport shuttle was handy, and that was about it. The room was in a terrible state and smelt horrible. I couldn't sleep because the strong smell of bleach was getting caught in my throat. There were holes in the doors and walls, a missing towel rail, terrible patch-up paint, cupboard doors missing, and curtains hanging off - we had to tie them up by hand to get privacy. Our room was located right next to a busy intersection and was extremely noisy, with no soundproofing at all. I'm not normally fussy, and it was only one night, but if I had a car with me, I would have slept in that instead. I rated the service as poor because there just wasn't any at all. It was managed by the Gateway next door. It felt like a prostitute rented by the hour room. The bed was comfortable and seemed clean and that was the only redeeming feature of the room.

Absolutely terrible couldnt stay here arrived at 930pm into a dirty room. Poo in the toilet, blood on the wall. Dirty sheets i asked if there was a clean room they said no so we had to leave and find a new motel. I would like a refund!

The fact of having to go next door to the reception and to have dinner in the restaurant was not appealing especially as a single woman walking there alone at night, I made sure I was back in my room before dark. The air con was fantastic in the room as too were the clean sheets n bedding. Outdated furniture and cracked tiles in the bathroom needs attention, the bed of springs was not comfortable at all. But the shuttle service to and from the airport was why I choose this place.

Was what you expected, I hoped for a little more in the room, but was just a place to sleep for a few hours until I woke up to go to the airport. Staff were friendly, shared kitchen and bathroom was run down, and my curtain/window from my room opened to a view of them both, not outside. Did have one fella stick his arm through at one point when walking the hallway, which wasn’t amazing but no big deal to just close it. Airport shuttle was the best thing, ran regularly and 24 hours, made the trip to the place and then back to the airport early hours of the morning stress free.
