This was the cheapest overnight stay I could find apart from Backpackers. This building has no air conditioning and corridors and main areas need a good paint - so it won’t feel like you are in a hotel but it is adequate with security and updated bathrooms and kitchenette. Close to catching the Northern Explorer.

The apartments themselves are pretty average (though in a lovely old building), but I would like to commend the exceptional customer service of Y Zhi, who went to a lot of trouble to return a jacket I had left behind. (You don't usually get shown to your room these days, either)

Remarkable site -very impressive formerly grand railway station converted into accommodation. Individual room well maintained, clean, but corridors clinical. No welcoming lounge area. Close to CBD, but locals (taxi, tour company) not aware tourists use it. Also used as student accommodation. Has cafe/wine bar in foyer.
