We booked 2 nights at the 4.5 star VR hotel & suites in a 'one bedroom suite'. The service was lacking at check in (and check out) and almost had a debate to prove we'd booked 2 nights. We found our 'suite' faced directly into the ground floor carpark and as we'd 2 nights there I raised this with reception. They begrudgingly re-allocated another room, facing the road on upper Queen St. Although the linen was clean & bed well made, everything else was less than average, let alone 4.5 star. If you book this hotel we suggest taking the basics (tissues, toilet paper, water glasses) & set your expectations to low. The bathroom extraction was permanantly on & roared constantly, the furnature, fittings & carpets were dirty, stained and broken and the room had an unpleasant odour. Regardless of the any passive apology we would not book this hotel again.

Awful smell on the 6th floor, addressed by staff who put extractor fan on in room remotely which made a terrible din til 9.30pm at night. Tiles incomplete in bathroom, blind rail broken and hanging from wall, stains on carpet. Great kitchenette facilities, room was just tired and not maintained.

Staff ignored me on arrival. When I said "Excuse me" to the staff member behind the desk I was told to wait. Approximately 5 minutes went by before I was served. When I got to my room, the bed was unmade and it was obvious it hadn't been cleaned since the previous guests had stayed in the room. There was also a drink still half drunken sitting on the bedside table. I went down and told the staff. They asked if I heading out and if I was they would have it sorted by the time I returned. A few hours later I returned. Room exactly as I left. Unmade. Grubby. When I approached the staff (this was now 11pm) he said, "What do you want me to do about it now? All the staff have gone home". We had a small discussion and then he went up to change the sheets and make the bed. Half an hour later, he came and told me the room was ready. Needless to say, I won't ever be going back

on the second day when i was redoing the bedding, noted stains on the duvet used. it was not nice specially now when we have to take care due to covid, i don;t think extra care is taken regarding bedding extra.
